Fixed point theorems for multivalued maps via new auxiliary function
2016
We introduce a contractive condition involving new auxiliary function and prove a fixed point theorem for closed multivalued maps on complete metric spaces. An example and an application to integral equation are given in support of our findings.
Characterization of ellipsoids through an overdetermined boundary value problem of Monge–Ampère type
2014
Abstract The study of the optimal constant in an Hessian-type Sobolev inequality leads to a fully nonlinear boundary value problem, overdetermined with non-standard boundary conditions. We show that all the solutions have ellipsoidal symmetry. In the proof we use the maximum principle applied to a suitable auxiliary function in conjunction with an entropy estimate from affine curvature flow.
R Code for Hausdorff and Simplex Dispersion Orderings in the 2D Case
2010
This paper proposes a software implementation using R of the Hausdorff and simplex dispersion orderings. A copy can be downloaded from http://www.uv.es/~ayala/software/fun-disp.R . The paper provides some examples using the functions exactHausdorff for the Hausdorff dispersion ordering and the function simplex for the simplex dispersion orderings. Some auxiliary functions are commented too.
Functional A Posteriori Error Estimate for a Nonsymmetric Stationary Diffusion Problem
2015
In this paper, a posteriori error estimates of functional type for a stationary diffusion problem with nonsymmetric coefficients are derived. The estimate is guaranteed and does not depend on any particular numerical method. An algorithm for the global minimization of the error estimate with respect to an auxiliary function over some finite dimensional subspace is presented. In numerical tests, global minimization is done over the subspace generated by Raviart-Thomas elements. The improvement of the error bound due to the p-refinement of these spaces is investigated.
Low-temperature spectrum of correlation lengths of the XXZ chain in the antiferromagnetic massive regime
2015
We consider the spectrum of correlation lengths of the spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ XXZ chain in the antiferromagnetic massive regime. These are given as ratios of eigenvalues of the quantum transfer matrix of the model. The eigenvalues are determined by integrals over certain auxiliary functions and by their zeros. The auxiliary functions satisfy nonlinear integral equations. We analyse these nonlinear integral equations in the low-temperature limit. In this limit we can determine the auxiliary functions and the expressions for the eigenvalues as functions of a finite number of parameters which satisfy finite sets of algebraic equations, the so-called higher-level Bethe Ansatz equations. The behavio…
